Fiery collision between prison van and truck kills seven in Alabama, US
Saturday, October 4, 2008 Six applicants to join the Alabama Department of Corrections and their driver have been killed after the prison van they were traveling in collided with an 18-wheeled truck. Both vehicles burned at the scene. Andrew David Carter, who was driving the Lewis Trucking Company truck with a cargo of treated lumber, escaped the wreck without serious injury. Four Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers killed in raid
Sunday, March 6, 2005 Four Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officers were shot and killed while raiding a house in the rural town of Mayerthorpe, Alberta. The suspected shooter, James Rosko, 46, also died in the raid. The RCMP reported that he committed suicide after killing the four officers with his own rifle. Small aircraft crashes into building in New York City
Wednesday, October 11, 2006 A small aircraft struck an apartment building in New York this afternoon, killing the pilot and a flight instructor. Cory Lidle, a pitcher for the New York Yankees baseball team, was the registered owner of the aircraft and is believed to have been piloting it; his passport was found on the scene.
